It was so much fun...

This was Easter Weekend 2013 on Primrose Hill in London, about to do an Easter egg roll. I hadn’t slept, I was absolutely off my face, and honestly… that was just normal back then.

All-nighters, roll-overs, endless afters, kitchen sessions that lasted until someone finally tapped out, that was my routine. Week in, week out.

My mental health, my bank account, my career, my body, everything was starting to crack.

So, naturally, I did what any chaotic thirty-something would do: I moved to Berlin. To party harder. Longer. Surrounded by people who wouldn’t bat an eyelid.

Until it wasn't...

In Berlin things got crazy.

All nighters turned into all weekenders, and slowly the fun I was used to having wasn't there anymore.

The highs were no longer high and the lows were lower than I'd ever been. Something had to change so on the 4th January 2018 (after a very very heavy NYE) I quit booze and drugs.

My life has never been the same.

And now?

I no longer rely on drugs and alcohol for anything other than a bit of fun a few times a year.

My life is wildly different to how it looked in 2018 and it's 100% down to being sober 99% of the time.

I'm married, a mother, a full time sober coach, live next to the sea in my beautiful house.

I'm the happiest and healthiest I have ever been.

All the things I wish I could be in 2018 I am. I take full responsibility for everything I am, the good and the bad and I live a life that is honest, true and I feel worthy of this life every day.

I never dreamed this could be me. I assumed I was destined to forever feel unloveable, unworthy and a bit depressed.

No the journey is not easy but it's more beautiful than I ever imagined it could be.

There is so much goodness on the other side of fear.
