Day 1 of your 21 Day Reset
Day 1 of your 21 Day Reset
The 21-Day Reset.
Welcome to your 21 Day Reset
Welcome to your 21 Day Reset
Welcome to Day 1 of your 21 Day Reset!
So happy you are here and well done, realising things need to change and taking action is HUGE, I'm excited for you :)
I hope however you’re starting today, maybe you’re fresh maybe your a little but hungover - whatever it is I hope you’re full of hope and determination.
Now the next 21 days are probably going to be a bit of rollercoaster and I guess I should say before we start that 21 days isn’t going to ‘fix’ any problems, BUT it is without a doubt an incredible start to feeling happier, healthier and addressing any concerns around your drinking and/or drugs thing habits.
For some people reading this you might have tried a period of abstinence before and not made it as long as you want, for others you might never have tried - wherever you are there is some advice we would give.
Throw yourself into this. Get stubborn, get fierce and don’t over think it. 21 days will go by anyway, why not do them sober and try your hardest
If you’re scared or nervous - I'm not going to tell you not to be as we are all for embracing the feelings rather than ignoring them, just please know it’s very normal and facing your fears is often hugely transformative and healing
Be kind to yourself. You’re human, we’re not robots, we all make mistakes, we can absolutely dust ourselves off and try again - so just keep trying. The only failure is giving up.
Everything is temporary, if things seem bleak or hard or sad or painful remember no feeling is permanent. I'll give you tips on how to handle those thoughts and feelings of wanting a drink / to get on it as we go along.
Day 1 is often a bit of an anticlimax as often it’s Sunday or Monday when you’re spent recovering and perhaps a day you probably wouldn’t normally drink anyway.
But it’s still Day 1 and we get to mark it off our calendars.
If you haven’t printed off a calendar then you can find yours linked HERE.
Print it off, stick it on the wall and cross off those days, honestly it feels so good and it’s nice to have a visual representation of the next few days. Every night before bed, cross of a day, and you can sleep soundly knowing you got through the day sober.
So talking of sleep, depending on what you are abstaining from and your consumption habits, sleeping might take a few days to settle. if you’re used to drinking in the evening or smoking weed you might find it tricky, if you’re habits are getting on it at the weekend, you might be ok.
But a few tips to help if you need it.
Hydrate - water is the elixir of life and drinking lots of it will help detox us quicker.
Once again, be kind to yourself, and if sleep is hard, just chill about it. A few tired days are hard but so is hangovers, comedowns, wasting loads of money, feeling like shit day in day out. You can handle a few nights of bad sleep.
And lastly try and get out for a walk today, getting fresh air and sunshine helps so much with finding our circadian rhythms and sleeping better.
Hope this is useful and see you tomorrow for Day 2.
With much love, Joanna xx
